Debt Settlement scams - how to avoid them

Unfortunately, in today's economy, many people are struggling to keep up with their own, rising debt. Con artists know this and know that many people are desperate to find a way out. They prey on this desperation. They promise you many things, but, in the end, can leave you in a much worse position than you started. In fact, they can completely ruin your credit and your life.

Avoid doing business with any company that promises to settle your debt if the company:

  • charges any fees before it settles your debts
  • touts a "new government program" to bail out personal credit card debt
  • guarantees it can make your unsecured debt go away
  • tells you to stop communicating with your creditors
  • tells you it can stop all debt collection calls and lawsuits
  • guarantees that your unsecured debts can be paid off for just pennies on the dollar
If you or someone you know has been the victim of a scam, or has suffered any kind of injury or damage from a consumer product or service, the Vogel Law Firm stands ready to help. Call 865-357-1949 or write rlvogel@robertvogellaw.com
